So your idea of UT playing big time OOC is scheduling a 6-7 UCLA team or a 7-6 Cal team?
My whole point was I would rather play big time games and run the risk of losing, than to beat up on lesser schools. I'd love to see UT schedule USC and they would more than likely beat our brains out. I like the big games. I think if your conference is down, and I know the ACC wont be down for long, your out of conference schedule needs to have some starch to it.

Welcome to the USSA!
Cal was ranked when we played them, both years, picked by many to be BCS bound. UCLA and Tennessee have played every few years for a long time, much like TN - Notre Dame. And I said its important to schedule strong OOC when your conference is down, and I dont quite think you would call the SEC down would you? You're probably going to have Florida, Georgia, and Auburn in the top 10 when the first rankings come out and we play all three of them. Not to mention : UCLA, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Alabama, who were all bowl teams this year.
I would be surprised if UGA wasn't in the preseason top 2. And according to most UT fans, to schedule VT wouldn't be scheduling strong OOC, my whole point. If VT is as bad as you say, play them.

If I remember, VT opened up with USC in 04. They gave them a half way decent game didn't they?
Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.
Was a good game until a bogus offensive pass int. was called on VT inside the USC 10. Changed the entire game.

Georgia probably will be #2 behind USC, I think Floridas loss to Michigan will still be in the mind of the voters or they would be #1 or #2, then USC, my God the reporters and such are in love with them. If Im ever appointed AD at Tennessee, I promise I'll schedule a home-home with VT, deal?
Heck, if you are ever appointed AD at UT forget about the game, I want a cheesy, high paying position!! :-)
